PRE-PRIMARY Room #2
Back to School
Summer Recap: This Summer we had a lot of fun and exciting adventures. We learned about farm animals and explored under the sea. We learned in depth about the parts of different farm animals. Using books, songs, and animal shows, we had hands on experiences to take our learning experiences to a whole new level. We also learned new songs about sea life and included farm life. Our class took some time from our days to water the plants in our classroom. Taking care of our greenery helps us to understand what plants need to grow. We also worked on learning to be responsible for our materials that we use as individuals in the classroom by taking care of our work. We also make sure to clean after ourselves and keep our areas in order. Enrichment for this month focused on the farm. We learned new songs that included the farm animals. This month was filled with surprises. We had a reptile show with a variety of lizards and snakes. The children also enjoyed a day of fun in the sun on our splash day, despite having to cancel some activities due to the wild fires in Riverside County.
September Recap: This month has been a great start to are school year. We learned all about ourselves. The theme was a great introduction for our friends in this room as we are all reaching milestones learning and exploring our feelings, body parts, and emotions. We have been talking about personal space and how to properly communicate our wants and needs. We also discussed our family, fingerprints, and our own characteristics. We discussed what friends are and what it means to be a friend. In our classroom we focused on learning self help skills and learning to put things away after using work. Our Montessori lessons entailed spooning, opening and closing containers, carrying a chair, as well as watering plants. For sensorial we worked with knobbed cylinders, red rods, and colors. For language we worked with puzzles, objects to pictures, and I spy. For math we worked with sandpaper numbers, cards, and counters. Our special project this month was snack host. We had a few friends that brought special snacks to share with our class. These students got to tell us why they chose the snack they brought and why it was important to them. This snack activity gave the students an opportunity to share with the class something that they enjoy while the class got a chance to experience it as well. We also had back to school night. It was nice meeting all of you that came out to see what we do here at Belltower. Friday, like every exciting Friday, is a share day. Your child gets to bring something from home to share with the class and describe it to them. This activity helps communication skills and it is a fun way for our friends to get to know each other.
October Recap: October has been a fun and exciting month. Our infants and toddlers are reaching new milestones every day. It is exciting to see the babies learning from the older toddlers as they observe them throughout the day. For the month of October, we focused on the solar system. We read books, sang songs, and incorporated more nature-based things for sensory development. We also had safety week. We had some amazing visitors. We had some fire fighters bring some fire engines. It was fun to see the children’s eyes light up with excitement and curiosity. We learned different textures as we got to touch pumpkins and corn. We opened some pumpkins so that children had the opportunity to feel the texture of the inside of the pumpkins. We also talked about what animals we could find during the fall season
